10th Anniversary Features 1980s Tribute Bands The Spazmatics, Bag of Donuts as Headliners
The Sealy Community Foundation is ready to get the party started in celebration of Sealybration's 10th anniversary. The patriotic, family-friendly event will be held July 13-14, 2018 at Sealy's B&PW Park. Headlining this year's entertainment line-up are the wildly popular and always entertaining 1980's tribute bands The Spazmatics
and Bag of Donuts
Also performing on Saturday this year are outlaw country singer-songwriter Jamie Wyatt
; Katy native and Nashville recording artist Carrie Marie Band
; and local country sensation David Lewis Music
. Friday night kicks the party off with "Noche de Fiesta" and the music of two popular regional Mexican bands - La Calma
and Banda Clave Sinaloense
"Every year we aim to put together a show that has something for everyone, and this year definitely does just that," said Melanie Willingham, President of the Sealy Community Foundation. "Friday night will be a lively fiesta as we enjoy the music of La Calma and Banda Clave Sinaloense. On Saturday, David Lewis Music is a talented country band made up of teenagers from Bellville. Jamie Wyatt is a unique singer-songwriter and Carrie Marie Band will play original and country favorites. And if you've never seen The Spazmatics or Bag of Donuts, they are not to be missed. Of course, we have food, vendors, and all-day fun for the family, too."
In the 10 years since the Sealy Community Foundation began organizing Sealybration, countless hours of volunteer time have been spent pulling off this now three-day-long event that attracts visitors from out of town for the BBQ cook-off, softball tournament, and top-notch live entertainment. During this time, the Sealy Community Foundation has given $93,000 in scholarships to 115 students and donations to many non-profits.
Each year the Sealy Community Foundation looks to offer new and exciting attractions. It has grown from a one-day event with a cook-off, specialty vendors and entertainment to now include the softball tournament, which on average attracts more than 100 teams to the area, a competitive cook-off, V.I.P. Experience, and kids' carnival.
"Sealybration is a great time to make memories and serve the community. I love that it gives small businesses a place to sell their goods and food. It also enables non-profits to donate their time and receive a donation or even sell their own goods with very little overhead costs. As a Sealy graduate, I also love the fact that Sealybration has become a time for Sealy alumni to reunite and catch up," said Angela Schmidt, Sealy Community Foundation Board Member.
Sealybration is hosted by the Sealy Community Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is serving as a voice for all non-profits, with intent to advance education and charity. To receive updates on Sealybration, be sure to like "Sealy Community Foundation" on Facebook
