This book is the first in the Duckworth Historical Crime Series which revolves around a colorful defense attorney, J.B. Duckworth and the unusual tactics he employs to represent his clients who have been accused of murder. The book centers on the brutal convict leasing program during the first decade of the 20th century and is set in Harris and Fort Bend Counties.
